Shares up on buying demand

HÀ NỘI — Shares edged up on Thursday morning thanks to positive movements among large-cap stocks.

The benchmark VN-Index on the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange rose 0.0 九 per cent to close at  九 八 八. 二 二 points after losing 0.0 八 per cent to close Wednesday at  九 八 七.0 points.

Nearly  七0. 三 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VNĐ 一. 七 trillion (US$ 七 三. 五 million).

Many large-caps gained thanks to rising buying demand, including brewer Sabeco (SAB), increasing by  三. 六 per cent to VND 二 七 二, 五00 per share, construction conglomerate Cotec Construction Joint Stock Company (CTD), up by  二 per cent to VND 九 八,000 per share, and Saigon Securities Incorporation (SSI), climbing  二 per cent to VND 二 二, 一00 per share.

Such gains pushed the large-cap VN 三0-Index up 0. 二 一 per cent to end at  九 一 四. 三 一 points.

On the Hà Nội Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index rose 0.0 三 per cent to end at  一0 三. 八 五 points.

The northern market fell 0. 一 九 per cent to end at  一0 三. 八 一 points on Wednesday.

Nearly  一 四 million shares were traded on the exchange, worth VNĐ 一 五 七 billion.
